Collier County – Sierra Club Florida and the Calusa Group of the Sierra Club officially announces their endorsement of Sara McFadden in her race to be elected to the Florida House of Representatives for District 106.
“We are very pleased to endorse Sara McFadden, who has proven herself to be a strong advocate for the environment, public health, and our communities. She vehemently opposes environmentally disastrous practices like “fracking,” and advocates for clean, renewable energy.” said Ruth Scott, Chair of Sierra Club Calusa Group. “Her experience, knowledge and dedication to environmental issues makes us confident that she will help move the state towards solutions that will finally hold corporate polluters accountable and put Florida’s environment and people ahead of special interests. Sara also understands the current and future impacts of climate change to our state and will work to address them.”
John Scott, Vice Chair of Sierra Club Calusa Group offered further comments: “Sara has an impressive track record of political and environmental activism and leadership. Her environmental values are in alignment with those of Sierra Club. As a member of Florida Candidates for Science, Sara understands the need for science based solutions. She will make acquiring land south of Lake Okeechobee a priority in order to send treated, fresh water south where it’s needed. She recognizes we can no longer allow algae blooms and red tide to lay waste to eco-systems and economies along inland and coastal waters and that a healthy environment is crucial to a healthy economy.”
Sara McFadden has clearly demonstrated that she is qualified to be elected to the State legislature and we’ll do everything we can to get her elected on November 6th.
